Hi, I'm Martin Fuchs, and I'm a stroke survivor. I suffered a dissection in my left carotid artery during a night run a year ago (2022), which led to a massive stroke within 24 hours. I lost my speech and the function of my right hand, and I've been in rehabilitation ever since.
Before my stroke, I was a director of sales at a tech start-up. I'm married and have two boys. I currently live in Ramat Hasharon, Israel, but have lived a big portion of my life in the US.
I started this blog to share my experience as a stroke survivor and to offer encouragement to other young people who have suffered a stroke or as we are called Stroke in the Young. I want to show you that it is possible to recover from a stroke and live a full and productive life.
I'll be sharing my experiences and what helped me and is currently assisting me in getting better.
In addition, the views and opinions expressed in this blog are purely, and entirely, my own. I do not claim to be, nor make an effort to be, a medical expert. Just an individual that suffered a stroke and felt compelled to write about my experiences and what helped overcome the numerous challenges I have encountered and will encounter in the future as a Stroke In The Young survivor.
I hope you'll join me on this journey.
Sincerely,
Martin
